Build a Direct Sales Team in 3 EASY Steps!

BUILD A DIRECT SALES TEAM IN 3 EASY STEPS! Most direct sales compensation plans are designed to reward you for recruiting and building a sales team. If you are wanting to make BIG money, build your direct sales team right from the start. By following these 3 EASY steps you’ll be creating a BIG prospect list which will lead to offering your business opportunity to more people. By talking to more people, more people are likely to join your team!

These 3 EASY steps will help you build a direct sales team:

1. Who do you know already in your network?

Who do you already know that would be great at your business? Do the friends, family and/or acquaintances you know already LOVE your product? Does someone need a job? Do you know someone who has great business savvy and/or has an entrepreneurial spirit? Do you know someone who is looking for a new opportunity?

Make a list of 10 people or more who you would love to work with who meet the criteria above. Give them a call and ask if they would like to meet with you for a coffee to discuss this business opportunity. Describe the opportunity, let them know why you want them on your team (describe the assets that you admire in them and has attracted them to you) and ASK them to join you!

If you don’t ASK, nothing will happen but if you do ASK something can and likely will happen!

2. Ask each and every hostess!

Your hostess already loves your product and is willing to have you and your products in her home. The hostess is the number one person most likely to join your team. Be sure to ask during hostess coaching if she would like to do her show as a consultant! Describe the benefits! Ask her again during your set up for the demonstration at her home. Continue building a relationship with your hostess at her show and again show how easy and fun it is to do your job! At the end of her show, explain to her how much you’ve made from her show and ask if she’d like to join your team. 

From now on, continue this pattern with all your hostesses. The more people you ask, the more leads you are generating. What about all the hostesses in the past you haven’t asked? Go back and make a list of your past hostesses and call them and tell them you’d love for them to join your team and would they like to meet you for a coffee to discuss your business opportunity. Set some time aside to make these calls. To warm these calls up a bit, send them an email with information on your signup information and then follow-up with calls.

Again when you give them a call, ask if they would like to meet with you for a coffee to discuss this business opportunity. Describe the opportunity, let them know why you want them on your team (describe the assets that you admire in them and has attracted them to you) and ASK them to join you!

If you don’t ASK, nothing will happen but if you do ASK something can and likely will happen!

3. Choose 2-3 guests to offer your business opportunity at each show!

At each show, there are guests you just hit it off with! Who would you love to work with? Be sure to speak about your business opportunity during your presentation and at checkout be sure to ask at least 2-3 guests. Ask them if they had fun at the show and if they would like more information on your business. If they say YES then be sure to give them some business information (have 3 recruitment packages at the checkout and challenge yourself to give them out at each show) and be sure to set up a follow-up call with them about 24 hours after the show to give them more information and to answer their questions. Be sure to let them know what attracted you about them. Give them a sincere compliment! And of course ASK them to join your team!

Use these 3 EASY steps and before long you will have generated a long list of prospects to give recruitment packages to, to have a business call or opportunity coffee with. The more people you talk about the business, the more people who will be joining your team. It’s a numbers game. Get started and make your prospect list today!

  1. Hi Sandra, I have to say that I am lucky that my team encourages this method as well. It is a numbers game, for every ten people you talk to you may get a recruit (same for bookings). You need to purposefully talk to more people about the business and ask them to join.
    As a side note: the coaching checklist at the bottom of your article has a broken link, so everyone will get an error message.

    • Yes, I have always found that to be true also! Call and collect 10 No’s and then you get a YES!! No’s are part of direct sales and you must expect to get them but YESES come after the No’s and you just must persevere! Thank you for letting me know about the link, I will fix it immediately!!
