Set Your B.H.A.G.!

For years I told myself I was wasting my time away feeling sick, tired and overweight! I felt I was missing out on the pleasure of living life to the fullest!  So I finally got it together and decided to face my challenges head on and I set a BIG, HAIRY AUDACIOUS GOAL! My B.H.A.G. was “I wanted to get healthier”!  There were many ways I decided to go about doing that but one of the mini goals I challenged myself with was to go to the gym regularly. I purchased a gym membership, paid for personal training, went 3 times a week for strength training and began another 2-3 times a week of cardio. Two of my 30 minutes sessions of cardio I would do immediately after my strength training.  My third cardio session was a yoga class or a 30 min brisk walk.

My B.H.A.G. is realized!

A year and a half later, I am still following this basic schedule even though I have had some set backs along the way (holidays, sickness, knee arthritis, back pain). That is real life! Now I’m feeling the benefits of my goal setting and I feel much more energized, healthier and full of life! I am on my way to achieving the BIG, HAIRY, AUDACIOUS GOAL I set out for myself!

Now it’s your turn!

Take a minute and write down what you want to change!  Don’t write it down in the negative E.g.. “I don’t want to be overweight” or “I don’t want to yell at my kids.”  That’s not motivating!  Instead brainstorm and write out what results you want to achieve when you change that one thing that is holding you back.  Write it in the positive.

The Law of Attraction.

Do you know about the Law of Attraction? The law of attraction is the belief that “like attracts like” and that by focusing on positive or negative thoughts, one can bring about either positive or negative results. E.g. “I would like to be healthier” or “When I talk with my kids I want to remain calm”.  Keep writing until you can’t think of anything else.

Choose one!

Now go to your brainstorming list.  If you achieved one item on the list and that would make a difference in all other areas of your list, what would it be?   Write it at the bottom of your list after writing MY BIG, HAIRY, AUDACIOUS GOAL (B.H.A.G.) IS……………………….

Challenge yourself!

What have you always wanted to do but were afraid to try?  Is it personal? Is it related to your career, education, finances or family?  Whatever it is, get bold and creative!

I want it to look BIG, HAIRY AND AUDACIOUS!!

    • Yes, while goal-setting ourselves we are a great example for our children that working hard towards a goal is always rewarding! Not just achieving it but the journey getting there!

  2. Hi Sandra I dropped by from the Let’s Get Real Facebook group. Great post, I recently learned about the law of attraction and have been applying it. The one area I am weak is in writing down my goals. I have them in my head, but have yet to put them on paper.
